Nyokabi Kariũki is a Kenyan composer, performer and artistic researcher. Her sonic universe ranges from contemporary classical music and experimental electronic music to film scores, sound art, field recordings and African musical traditions.
Using piano, voice, electronics and lamellophones from various regions of Africa, Nyokabi Kariũki creates multi-layered soundscapes. She has received international acclaim for her EP »peace places: kenyan memories« and her debut album »FEELING BODY«. At the heart of her work lies the preservation and artistic reflection of African ways of thinking, languages and stories.
