I wrote the work “Raw Sugar” in 2020, using text by my cousin, Marundu Muturi: a poem reflecting on dreams, and the strangeness of future — at the time not knowing that a pandemic was around the corner. The work will finally see its premiere at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, NYC at 7:30pm on 21st May, 2022.
My piece “The Colour of Home” will be performed by the International Contemporary Ensemble in Brooklyn, New York — on my birthday!

I have the pleasure of chatting with Rita Ray & Max Reinhardt on the stories behind my new EP and my music journey; as well as some other works by some East African artists I admire.
Kenyan composer Nyokabi Kariũki presents a sixty minute playlist showcasing voices and composers from across the African continent. Over the hour Nyokabi takes you on a journey around Africa, using music to explore the sense of place and home.
